What foods we should eat before sleep and what foods we shouldn't eat
-Pizza and pasta.Avoid eating pizza and pasta right before going to bed, because these meals are pretty heavy and rich in calories; eating this kind of food would give your tummy a real workout at night!
-Coffee.If you want to drink something before hitting your cosy pillow, definitely, don’t go for coffee. In fact, coffee is a stimulant that has prolonged effect on the body, so that you won’t be able to sleep and rest properly
-Cheese.Cheese is one of the worst foods to eat at night, especially for those who suffer from heartburn. Eating cheese before bed time can feel very heavy on the stomach
-Celery.Seeing celery on this list might surprise you, but there’s a simple reason for it: celery is a natural diuretic.
-Spicy delicacies.Foods with the use of salsa, mustard and spicy peppers are not the best choice for a bed-time snack! These type of meals can cause strong heartburn and can prevent you from peacefully falling asleep, because of their energy boosting effects.
-Walnuts.Walnuts are a good source of tryptophan, a sleep-enhancing amino acid that helps make serotonin and melatonin, the “body clock” hormone that sets your sleep-wake cycles.
-Lettuce.A salad with dinner could speed up your bedtime since lettuce contains lactucarium, which has sedative properties and affects the brain similarly to opium.
-Cherry Juice.A glass of cherry juice could make you fall asleep faster, according to researchers from the Universities of Pennsylvania and Rochester. Cherries, particularly tart cherries, naturally boost levels of melatonin.
-Chamomile Tea.Steeping a cup of chamomile tea will help you sleep. According to researchers, drinking the tea is associated with an increase of glycine, a chemical that relaxes nerves and muscles and acts like a mild sedative.
-Banana.Worried about falling asleep tonight? Have a banana before bed, says Saundra Dalton-Smith, MD, an internist and the author of Set Free to Live Free: Breaking Through the 7 Lies Women Tell Themselves. “Bananas are an excellent source of magnesium and potassium, which help to relax overstressed muscles. They also contain tryptophan, which convert to serotonin and melatonin, the brain’s key calming hormones.
